The non-profit, Every Ability Plays Project ( EAPP ) seeks individuals committed to furthering our mission to join our Board of Directors. We advocate for children with disabilities in our mission to provide handicap-accessible playground equipment for children of all abilities/needs. Currently, the EAPP Nominating Committee is recruiting qualified candidates with experience in the following areas: Certified Public Accountant, Fundraising, Project Management, and demonstrated involvement in advocacy for persons with disabilities. Board members currently serve without compensation but are reimbursed for expenses. We are a small organization providing direct services in Albuquerque, New Mexico with planned expansion to surrounding, underserved rural areas. The EAPP board meets monthly and is comprised of a variety of professionals, with the representation of disabled children & young adults. The EAPP Board is actively recruiting members with varied backgrounds, including legal, grant development, and marketing. Most important is the interest in applying your skills to strengthen the EAPP mission as an advocate for young people experiencing physical & mental disabilities that require special equipment in order to enjoy a playful life.

Key Responsibilities

Duty of Care: Take care of the nonprofit by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facility, people, and good will;

Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the nonprofit’s activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission; Recognize and disclose conflicts of interest; Make decisions that are in the best interest of the nonprofit corporation; not in the best interest of the individual board member (or any other individual or for-profit entity).

Duty of Obedience: Ensure that the nonprofit obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; and that the nonprofit adheres to its stated corporate purposes/mission.

Qualifications

Professional experience in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector A commitment to and understanding of Every Ability Plays Project’s clients An ability to build consensus among diverse individuals Personal qualities of integrity, sincerity, and a desire to improve the lives of EAPP’s clients
